If one does not want to participate in military service, there should be other options: community service, ecological service, public journalism and the arts, education, policing, ambulance corps, social work, etc.

 @9JLCRR7from Illinois answered…3mos3MO

yes, until there isnt a peace treaty with palestine, keep status quo, everyone serves when 18 except for arabs and yeshiva students

 @9J3G9MVLaboranswered…3mos3MO

No, as many people would be more helpful than in the army for the nation. 2 years of community service should be a option for who wants. Most of Israelis understand why the army exists and why they need to serve in order to guard the country from its enemies.

Generally citizens should have to perform some form of service, but it shouldn't have to necessarily be military; it should be able to be some other form of service. Exceptions should be made for some Yeshivah students, and some other people seeking higher education

Yes, two years of social service in which one is allowed to study part-time in an academic institution of any kind (university, yeshiva, etc.) but the IDF should be allowed to recruit to itself those who it sees fit, and pay them accordingly (perhaps offer academic scholarships).

In reality more than 50% of 18 year-olds don't get recruited anyway so a voluntary based professional army is best
